What Can We Actually Wear to Pub Gardens (IT'S COLD AF)

15/04/2021

The idea of sitting in the pub gardens with our five best friends, sipping on our favourite beverage, in a floaty spring dress is literally everything right now. We've all been planning outfits for April trips out for MONTHS, especially remembering our 2020 spring heatwave last year. But this year it's not really the case.

Let's be real, it's cold AF.

We all want to reallllyyyyy enjoy that cold lager shandy, but a hot chocolate might be more weather appropriate.

Never the less, as always fashion is here to help us.

If you can't wear your cute new smock dress yet, you can still look 10/10 and be warm.

Shackets

Shackets have really come into their own in the past six months. If you don't have (at least) one yet then where exactly have you been?!

Personally, I've been steering away from my shacket with it's chocolate brown warm colour tones. I want to feel spring-y even if it's chilly.

Thankfully there isn't a retailer online that doesn't have a stunning spring colour toned shacket. Think light blues, pinks and lemon yellow.

One of the best things about shackets are they're almost always oversized, meaning you can stack the layers underneith to keep you warm in those breezy pub gardens. (I am not ashamed to say I am a lover of a thermal vest - and who's going to know?!)

All Black E'rrything

Okay, so you might want to feel super sping ready with pastels and florals, but that doesn't mean an all black chic af look isn't going to still slay every time.

Just take a look at Molly-Mae's Instgram feed and you'll see! A lot of influencers are stepping out in tennis skirts, smock dresses and pretty cami-style tops but queen Molly-Mae is keeping it real. (That Prada coat!!!!!)

In the Nude

You can never go wrong with nudes, and you can totally layer them up and encorporate them into outerwear for a warm but light look. The best thing about this trend is you can add it into as much or as little of your outfit as you like.

Knits and sweatshirts are always going to keep you nice and toasty (yet again with a trusty thermal under) and if you want to style them up with leather trousers, gold jewellery and a heel you rock it.

An all nude outfit is also just a statement and super cute for spring and easy to layer up to keep you toasry while you're toasting!

Tie Ups and Cut Outs

According to  Vogue (aka The Bible) tie up details are one of this spring's hottest trends. This is a great way to show a bit of flesh without fully freezing out bods. My personal favourite way to do this is with bottoms - and the right bottoms can take your outfit from 1 - 100 real quick.

A tie up waist on a pair of flares paired with a crop jumper is a fashion-forward look that's going to still keep you warm in the pub gardens. Pair it with a porn star martini and you're good to go!

Cut outs in jeans are also killer right now. Some of our favourite high street brands have some amazing jeans with cut outs on the thighs, knees, waist and booty. A nice thick warm denim with a flash of flesh. Perfection.

Inject Some Colour

Any outfit can be brought into spring with the right pop of colour - even the most cosy wintery look.

To the lilac faux fur coat hiding in the back of my wardrobe, your time is now sister. Personally, I am a self confessed coat hoarder so any colour you can imagine it's probably sitting in my coatdrobe. Now is totally the time to use them to their full potential.

But, if you have a normal amount of coats that doesn't mean you can't add a great splash of colour into your pub garden look. Opt for a bright jumper or long sleeved top to pop under your coat or jacket.

Wild patterns are huge right now, and styling them under outerwear is not only a great way to encorporate them but also the perfect way to ease in if you're a bit scared.
